Usually, a lot of people ask us about the equipment we use to capture the moment. Therefore, we have decided to share a list of all the essentials we have in order to create the best photo content possible. However, please note that this might not work for everyone, but it is perfect for us. We decided to share this information with you as you might find it useful.
Drone – DJI Mavic II Pro
This is our favourite gear. Wherever we go we are always with our drone. It allows us to create stunning video footage and incredible photos from above. This is just a magnificent machine. We’ve been using DJI for a few years now, and we can only say positive things about the drone. The drone performs great in a strong wind, hovering is super accurate which allows us to shoot in every weather condition.
It is important for us to have always extra batteries when we are on a go. One battery can usually be enough for shooting up to 30 minutes, that is why we usually bring with us at least 2 more charged batteries.
Camera Canon EOS 6D Mark II
We believe that investing in a high-quality professional camera is one of the biggest essentials when desiring to generate the highest quality photos. We have always worked with Canon since 2016. Therefore, we upgraded our equipment and invested in Canon EOS 6D MARK II. As we have been shooting since the beginning only with Canon, we cannot really give an overview of other brands such as Nikon, for example. However, Canon EOS 6D Mark II is a good model of a great ‘first’ full-frame DSLR camera which has the ability to capture high quality low light images. The cost of the camera is slightly affordable – £ 1,349.99 (just for the body), compared to the rest cameras on the market which might be able to generate almost the same photo content.
We owe two types of lens – the Canon EF 24-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM & Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art.
The Canon EF 24-105 mm is ideal for portraits, landscapes and when you only want to take one lens out with you. This is a very versatile lens at a reasonable price. It has the key features you require as well as the image stabilization is really useful.
Additionally, we have also purchased Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon. This lens high resolution makes it perfect for the high-megapixel era. The resolution is extremely crisp at the area in focus, while both front and rear bokeh are silky-smooth. Offering the ultra-high performance that lens is suitable for portrait photography, landscape photography, studio photography and street photography.
Sigma Lens Hood for 50mm
Due to the fact we mainly prefer to shoot during the day, we find it really important to use a lens hood while photo shooting. It really helps to prevent glare and lens flare. What is more, you can keep stray light from entering the lens and ensure that it gets a good, clear view of a scene.
Batteries , Memory Cards, Card reader, and a Charger
Usually, when we go out shooting, we bring with us at least one extra battery, just in case. Most of the time, we actually use it. Therefore, we advise you always to consider this in mind and get one extra battery in case of an emergency.
Moreover, we have 2x 64gb memory cards which we always bring with us together with a card reader which we can use straight after the photo shooting to transfer the photos on the computer. Sometimes this can be also done by connecting the camera to your computer as well without extra cables etc., however, we use Lenovo card Reader for MacBookPro.
Tripod – Manfrotto
As sometimes we shoot more couple photos and there are no friends around us, we purchased a tripod, the newest essential from our equipment. We choose a tripod at a decent price, which is also light and compact enough to travel with and provides good support for your camera.
Laptop – Apple Macbook Pro 16″
We both use a Macbook Pro for all our work. Perfect for photo and video editing, super fast and lightweight. This is definitely one of the best investments we have ever made.
Phone – iPhone 11 Pro Max
Most of the times when we are on the go and we want to create Instagram stories instantly we use our personal gears, our phones. Since we have always used iPhones, we would say that this is the second best investment we have ever made. Dual 12MP cameras with Portrait mode, Night mode, Auto Adjustments, next-generation Smart HDR and 4K video up to 60 fps with extended dynamic range gives us an opportunity to create incredible content when we are not in a mood for shooting with the camera.
Camera Stabiliser – Ronin S
This is one of the gears we use when we are creating cinematic videos with our camera. However, as it is too heavy we use it mainly when we are creating promotional content for our clients.
Phone Stabiliser – DJI Osmo Mobile 2
For when we need a smooth video with our iPhones. This compact little stabiliser will give your 4K video shot on your iPhone that cinematic smooth look.
The little camera we use for all our underwater and action shots. Fits in your pocket, great image quality and complete water and shockproof!
Dome case – Telesin dome
Want to take half/half pictures in the water where half of the picture is shot over the water and half of the picture is underwater. This dome case is a must-have!
Camera Bag – Vanguard
Getting all this gear (including tripod and all chargers) into one backpack seemed like an impossible task until we found the Vanguard! It’s not only super comfortable, but it looks lovely too! And while it’s definitely not the cheapest, it’s the only gear backpack you’ll ever need.
